Friday Weather Update

July 7, 2017

As we close out the work week we will see a few isolated showers and possible a thunderstorm move through the county. As of 9:30am this morning showers were just northeast of the county and moving in our direction.

Afternoon and Evening showers and storms possible today

July 6, 2017

You can expect a repeat of afternoon showers and storms once again today. These showers and storms will be much like yesterdays storms. Not expecting anything severe but CAPE levels (Thunderstorm Fuel) are high enough to get a few strong storms firing in the area.

Rain and Fireworks compete again tonight

July 4, 2017

Happy Independence Day to everyone! Once again mother nature will battle it out with fireworks celebrations around the county. We could see a natural version of fireworks before the man made fireworks are blasted off tonight. 

 

Rain moves in this evening.

July 3, 2017

If you are planning on having some pre 4th of July fireworks this evening. They may be interrupted or even postponed by some rain showers. The models this morning are showing rain moving into the county around 7pm this evening. It is possible we see a few small isolated showers before then.

General risk for thunderstorms around the county

June 30, 2017

As we close out the work week sunny skies will give way to a general risk for thunderstorms today. We could see periods of rainfall throughout the day around the county. Some light showers are occurring in southwest Rowan County as I type this post.

 

Long periods of rainfall possible today

Gulf Coast Moisture will be pumped into the area today and as it passes through the county could lead to long periods of rainfall. I am not looking for anything severe and in most cases the rainfall will be light.

Quite a bit has happened over the past 24 hours. Yesterday when I made my blog post about Potential Tropical Cyclone Three this storm was unnamed. Yesterday afternoon we had Tropical Storm Cindy. Let's take a look at the latest advisory for this storm and the possible track.

 

Potential Tropical Cyclone Three Update

There has been a lot of talk about Potential Tropical Cyclone Three in the Gulf Coast. So many are more concerned with the track of this storm. The concern should be more with the potential flooding impacts this storm will bring regardless of the track.
