Extreme Heat This Weekemd
Hopefully you read the tips on the cover photo very carefully. You are going to need those tips this weekend! We have our hottest temperatures of the year coming this Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Our best chance of hitting triple digit temps so far this summer.
Hot Friday and possibly the Hottest day of the Year
Good Friday morning everyone! As we come to the close of another work week. We are closing it out in a blaze. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far for the county. However today will take that title away and be even hotter than yesterday.
Weekly Road Closure Report 7/10/17
Good Monday Morning! It's been a few weeks since my last Road Closure Report. ere are the current projects slated to finish this year around the county. If you don't see a project listed. The NCDOT does not have a closure date for this year on the project.
Strong to Severe storms possible this afternoon and evening
The storms prediction center has issued a slight risk for severe weather today. and Rowan County is inside of the area that is likely to see strong to severe storms.
Friday Weather Update
As we close out the work week we will see a few isolated showers and possible a thunderstorm move through the county. As of 9:30am this morning showers were just northeast of the county and moving in our direction.
Afternoon and Evening showers and storms possible today
You can expect a repeat of afternoon showers and storms once again today. These showers and storms will be much like yesterdays storms. Not expecting anything severe but CAPE levels (Thunderstorm Fuel) are high enough to get a few strong storms firing in the area.

Just wanted to take a quick moment to thank everyone for following Rowan County Weather! Thank you to our service men and women who fight for our right to live in a free country. Where we have the freedom to do anything we want as long as it is not unlawful and harmful to others.
Rain and Fireworks compete again tonight
Happy Independence Day to everyone! Once again mother nature will battle it out with fireworks celebrations around the county. We could see a natural version of fireworks before the man made fireworks are blasted off tonight.
Rain moves in this evening.
If you are planning on having some pre 4th of July fireworks this evening. They may be interrupted or even postponed by some rain showers. The models this morning are showing rain moving into the county around 7pm this evening. It is possible we see a few small isolated showers before then.
