Rain moves in this evening.

Monday, July 3, 2017 - 7:58am

If you are planning on having some pre 4th of July fireworks this evening. They may be interrupted or even postponed by some rain showers. The models this morning are showing rain moving into the county around 7pm this evening. It is possible we see a few small isolated showers before then. The more widespread rain will occur this evening.

The good news is there will not be any severe weather associated with these showers and storms as they CAPE levels are low, Helicity values are non existent, Significant Tornado Parameters are also non existent and super cell values are even non existent. So there is not enough in the atmosphere to get these showers and storms cooking later this evening. Accumulations look to be around a tenth to a quarter of an inch by the time we close out this Monday July 3rd.

I will provide updates as showers and storms approach and move through the county. Be sure to check back here and on social media throughout the day and evening. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
