Rain and Fireworks compete again tonight

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 - 8:32am

Happy Independence Day to everyone! Once again mother nature will battle it out with fireworks celebrations around the county. We could see a natural version of fireworks before the man made fireworks are blasted off tonight.

Models are indicating that showers and storms will move in once again this evening. These showers and storms will be isolated in many cases. However, thy could affect the entire county throughout the evening. The most likely chances of these showers and storms will be between 6-11pm this evening. I would just have a rain plan in place if you are heading out to a fireworks show or planning on setting them off from your home.

CAPE levels (Thunderstorm Fuel) will be elevated enough to get some lightning and thunder into the mix. I am not expecting anything severe at this point. The main threat will be localized flooding much like we saw last night in the southeast corner of Rowan County.

I will of course provide updates throughout the day and evening right here and on social media. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
