With Heat Coming. Check the backseat!
We have some of our hottest temperatures of the year heading our way this week. I always get concerned when the heat starts to amp up.
Weekly Road Closure report 6/12/2017
Good Monday Morning. This weeks list of road closures is long! Please note if a project is not listed. The NCDOT either has not provided information or the project is not scheduled to be completed in 2017
Thunderstorms possible later this afternoon
It has been a few days since we have had any rain. Conditions are favorable for that streak to end today. Models are indication rain moving through the county in two waves today. the first wave looks to arrive around 5-6pm tonight. Wave two looks to move in around 11-midnight.
The NHC says an above normal Hurricane season is possible this year
Forecasters at NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center say the Atlantic could see another above-normal hurricane season this year.
Slight chance for severe weather today
We have a slight chance for Severe Weather around the county on this Memorial Day. So please stay weather aware during any outdoor activities you may have.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! First and foremost thank you to the service men and women who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to those who are serving now! Last but not least thank you to the families who have loved ones serving or who have served!
More rain is likely today
Wow! What a night! Thunderstorms moved through the county and the area brining some lightning, thunder and gusty winds with them. There were lots of damage reports to our west. From what I have observed so far this morning. There have been no reports here in Rowan County.
Severe Weather threat is possible tonight.
As we kickoff the long Memorial Day Weekend we have a threat for severe weather in the county. There are a few concerns I have with storms that move through the area and the county tonight so lets outline them here for you to prepare.
Severe Storms likely this afternoon and evening.
We have had quite a bit of rain over the past few days but have managed to avoid severe weather. I feel we may be reaching the point that severe weather will come into play today.
Rain will continue tonight
As of this morning at the weather center we had 1.68 inches of rainfall form last nights rains. We will dry out a little during the day today. However, rain will move back into the county later this evening around 6 or 7pm.
