Thunderstorms possible Thursday and Friday
We could see our first thunderstorms of the year tomorrow night and during the day on Friday. The setup is being delivered to us from the transition of the warm air we have enjoyed yesterday and today moving out and cold air moving in behind it.

This January even though its only 9 full days in. Has been cold. It doesn't take a Meteorologist to tell you that. You have felt it and some of you have talked to me about it. This January has been off to a record start.
A cold rain today could lead to some icing on bridges tonight
A winter weather advisory has been issued for the county through midnight tonight. We could see some cold rain move in later this afternoon and evening. Schools in the county ar dismissing 3 hours early. Here's what you can expect from the weather. The high today will top out at around 33º

Good Saturday Morning! We will see mostly cloudy skies today with some rain showers moving in later this afternoon. Rain moves in around 2pm this afternoon
Moderate Drought Conditions taking over the county
As we continue to have more and more dry days versus wet days the drought conditions continue to spread through the state and the county. All but the extreme northwest portion of the county is now in a moderate drought status.
Moderate Drought Creeping Its Way Into The RoCo
It has certainly been a crazy year for us with the weather here in Rowan County. We are currently sitting on 45.06 inches of rainfall officially for the year. This puts on 4.75 inches above normal for the year.
Our first dose of winter
We have made it to Friday. The talk for the week has been will we get snow and if so how much. As we have progressed through the week I have brought accumulation totals up. You have to keep in mind. The roads will stay wet so this will only be accumulations on grassy surfaces.

Good Wednesday Morning! We are in the early stages of some arctic air that will move into the county and hang around with us for the remainder of the week. There is a slight chance of rain today but more isolated than last evenings rain event.
