The scorching heat filled days of summer are upon us in Rowan County! We have already had thirteen days of high temperatures of 90 degrees or higher. As this heat builds we will continue to see afternoon and evening thunderstorms as a possibility.
The Full Strawberry Moon
The June Full Moon is called the Full Strawberry Moon. This Full Moon got its name from the Algonquin tribes who knew it as a signal to gather the ripening fruit of wild strawberries. It has also been known as the Honey Moon, Mead Moon, and the Full Rose Moon in Europe.

It’s an unfortunate story that occurs every summer. A parent leaves their child in the car unattended with the engine off and the windows rolled up. On average, 37 children die in hot cars each year in the United States.
Microburst slams Town of Landis
Monday night the skies turned ominous as storms began to move through the county. Rowan County Weather started warning residents of a severe thunderstorm approaching the county shortly after 5:30 pm.
