The Hazards of Flooding
With rainfall being a possibility several days next week along with accumulation chances of an inch to an inch and a half to two inches of total rainfall localized flooding could be a possibility.
A warm end to the week gives way to cold air and rain early next week
With temperatures and sunshine on the increase for the rest of the week a taste of spring fever is possible. However, a cold does of reality and wet weather is possible to start of next week. Looking at models for early next week rain chances start to ramp up on Monday.
What happened to the snow?
Good evening everyone. I just wanted to say that I am disappointed that my forecast wasn't spot on today. I am all about credibility in my forecast and not hype.
Ice to be the biggest threat on Monday
As we move closer and closer to Monday the forecast is begriming to take shape. A Winter Storm Watch will go in effect Monday morning at 1am and is set to be in effect until 7pm Monday night.
The breakdown of the upcoming winter weather on Monday
There's certainly been a lot of talk about the weather forecast for Monday. The biggest reason the forecast is bouncing back and forth on the totals is honestly no legitimate Meteorologist or Forecaster has a good handle on the storm.
Latest update on Winter Storm for Presidents Day
As I stated in my blog post last night concerning this setup "The timing of the arrival of the moisture. How far east the moisture gets without warm air aloft interfering" I knew that was going to play a part in how this forecast continues to adjust.
Winter Storm Possible on Presidents Day
Weather models are indicating a possibility we get one more winter storm moving into the county on Presidents Day (Monday February 15th) As you can see from the cover photo of this blog the GFS model is certainly onboard with wintry precipitation over a large portion of the area.
What was up with the clouds over the county tonight?
I received several photos and questions about the eerie look to the clouds tonight. I thought I would take a moment to explain what caused this to occur. Basically, we had a warm front or warm air ahead of a strong advancing cold air mass that was moving into the county.
Tough call for Monday Night
This Monday night has an interesting setup that really hasn't come together yet. This is one of the times the forecast is very difficult.
Why we need Doppler Radar closer to Rowan County
Just yesterday strong winds pushed through areas in southern Davidson County. These winds caused structural damage and knocked over trees. Now I realize this is Rowan County and you may wonder why I am talking about our neighbors to the north.
