It's Sunday and there is a lot going on today. We have the Coke 600 being ran tonight as well as normal Sunday activities such as church. The big impact today and into the day on Memorial Day is what is now Tropical Depression Bonnie.

All eyes right now are pointed to the Atlantic Ocean and Invest 91L The storm itself is really unorganized and making its way through the Atlantic Ocean. If it gets a name is will be Bonnie. However, don't worry about the name and where the center of circulation will make landfall.

Coke 600 Weather Preview

I know there are many of you that will be going over the Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday for the running of the Coke 600. The question that continues to get asked of me is what is the weather expected to be like. I must be honest I don't like the chances of a full race being possible.

As you have probably already noticed the temperature is definitely on the rise for the first time in a few weeks. We are on our way to temperatures in the mid to upper 80's today. Looking at 85º by around 4pm.

It's certainly been a wet month of May. However, this month is not the wettest May on record. That distinction goes to May 1975 with a total of 8.25 inches of rain for the entire month. Currently May 2016 ranks as Rowan County's 26th wettest at 5.64 inches.

Today may be the last day for sometime where we see temperatures this cool. Highs the remainder of the week are projected to go into the 80's while today we top out around 70º
