The game started off pretty slow with both teams playing great defense behind solid pitching.
By the third inning Carson got the scoring started with a ground out RBI by Harrington putting the Cougars up for their only lead in the context.
In the bottom of the third Danica Krieg hit an RBI double to put the Lady raiders up 2-0 and giving the squad the lead for good.
Eva Shue from that moment on put on a performance on the mound while her offense put up an equally good performance to help them team on to victory. Shue gave up only three hits and one run over six innings of pitching. Striking out seven batters and walking only two. Caylee Snow took the loss for the Cougars going five and one third innings giving up 11 runs and 13 hits while striking out two batters and walking four.
The Lady Raiders offense out up 13 hits in the game. Krieg drove the middle of the lineup batting in four runs. Kynlee Dextraze, Eva Shue, Carmen Thomas, Avery Fisher & Leisha Carter each had two hits. with Fisher putting the final nail in the coffin driving in the winning run on a double to end the game.
Evie White Calia Sifford and Harrington each collected one hit for Carson.
Next up the Lady Raiders travel to North Cabarrus on Friday.
I did have to note a special moment in the game. There were several other contests taking place at South Rowan Tuesday evening. Late in the softball game the National Anthem was being played on one of the other fields for the start of that contest. The softball game took a pause and everyone from the umpires, players, coaches and fans stood up paused the game and honored the national anthem for the other contest while the softball game was occurring. Thats why I love living here in Rowan County!!!
