Charlotte FC shows new ability

Under the leadership of new Head Coach Dean Smith.... (Not that one) However, this one is making a name for himself early on with Charlotte Fc that could hopefully rival the legendary status of the dean Smith you may immediately think of. The Charlotte FC through two matches' so far have yet to trail this season. After an early goal by Adilson Malanda against NYCFC to secure the first win of the season. The crown followed suit in Vancouver last night with an early goal by Iuri Tavares in the 31st minute of the match against the Whitecaps. Unlike match one though the opposition scored just before the half with a goal by Raposo during the added five minutes of stoppage time added by the referee.

Both teams had some opportunities during the second half to get the win, but neither could get the ball in the back of the opposing teams' net. However, this is nothing to be ashamed of by the crown. One of their biggest problems last year was giving up late goals that allowed opponents to either come from behind to win or force a draw leaving almost 30 points on the table for the Crown. As of right now Charlotte FC is in sixth place in the east and just three points off the favored Inter-Miami with superstar Lionel Messi.

In both matches for the crown so far this season the team has had the same starting XI and played the 4-2-3-1 and with the current roster because of personal shortages and injuries this seems to work for the club. The team seems to be more favorable to be in position to take advantage of loose balls after shots on goal to make second attempts that on both occasions for goals this season to be successful.

There are still plenty of questions to be answered about this club as we move through the young season. One thing for sure with the small sample size we have. The crown is showing signs of improvement with the new leadership the ability to stay focused late in matches. This was surely lacking last season. The one constant for the club that still needs to improve in the clubs performance in the final third of the pitch. Once the team gets this weakness under control, they will surely be able to contend for a legitimate playoff spot later this season to try to best last year's play in match which ended in a loss.
