...INCREASED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...
A cold, dry air mass will continue to move into the region.
Breezy northerly winds of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25
mph, are expected to develop today in the wake of a cold front.
Critical relative humidity values from 15 to 25 percent are
expected this afternoon. These conditions, combined with dry
fuels, will enhance the potential for wildfires to spread quickly
in portions of Northeast Georgia, Upstate South Carolina, and some
areas in North Carolina along and east of Interstate 77.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can
quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
