I am honored and excited to announce that this year's Long-Range Winter Weather Forecast will be sponsored by Winterfest: A German Christmas Marketplace 2023.  If you are not familiar with Winterfest let me enlighten you!

Winterfest is an Official Rowan County Event. 

Location: 460 S. Salisbury Ave, Spencer, NC 28159– directly across the street from the NC Transportation Museum
 

All Admission, Crafts, Events, and Entertainment are 100% Free!
 

• Winterfest began in 2021 when a group of volunteers envisioned a free
  holiday experience for all to enjoy. The decision was made to replicate a
  German Christmas Market with entertainment, food, crafts, and family
  activities. With strong support from business sponsors and the entire
  community, the vision became a reality.
• Spencer on Ice—A 2,000 sq ft iceless skating rink (synthetic ice) will be openthroughout the duration of all Winterfest FOR FREE! Ice skates provided,
• ​Over 30+ craft vendors showcase a variety of gifts in the Market huts and the
  indoor market
• Food Trucks offer meals and snacks, hot chocolate, wine, beer and more.

Friday, December 1st– Opening Night

Hours of Operation: 5:00-9:00 PM
 

•  5:00 PM–Opening Ceremony featuring Winterfest Christkind
•  6:00 PM–The Children’s Doo Dah Parade and the arrival of Santa
  (performance by the Rowdy Rowan Dancers)–Meet at the Kid’s Korner activity tent
  from 5:00 to 6:00 pm to decorate your wheels (bikes, scooters, tricycles, wagons, e.g.) or make a
  craft to carry along the parade route. Ride, walk or dance your way along the parade route as it winds
  its way through the marketplace.
• 6:30 PM– Christmas Crafts (Kids Korner)
• 7:00 PM– Lighting of the Town of Spencer Christmas Tree featuring a
  performance by the Rowdy Rowan Dancers
•  8:00 PM— Christmas music by the incredible Ricky Howsare (An Opening Night Tradition)

Saturday, December 2nd
Hours of Operation: 2:00-9:00 PM

     ● 12:30 PM– Fun Run The Freeze Your Buns Off 5k. (For more information and to register for this event click here
     ● 1:00 PM– Freeze Your Buns Run—--(I have attached the flier for more
        information on age groups, cost, e.g.)
     ● 2:00 PM– Freeze Your Buns Run Awards & Make Your Own Gingerbread
       House (Kids Korner)
     ● 3:00 PM– Salisbury Dance Academy Performance
     ● 4:00 PM– Veterans’ Salute featuring the Piedmont Community Band
     ● 6:00 PM— To the Pointe Dance Company Performance
