The club is asking fans to "Fill the Fortress" as the Club looks to maintain its single game MLS attendance record. Last year these two clubs split the season head-to-head matchups with New England wining the last matchup with a score of 2--1.
It is likely going to be an emotional night at the Bank as this will be the first regular season home match without Anton Walkes who tragically lost his life before the start of this season.
New England is looking to rebound from what was nothing less than a disappointing season last year. Coach Bruce Arena said he would not miss last season in his final post season interview.
This will be in a sense a bubble matchup for both clubs to start the season as both of these clubs to have the head-to-head lead at the end of this coming Saturday's match.
Charlotte FC looks to pick up where the club left off last year with the party atmosphere from the supporter groups in attendance. The club finished top 3 in attendance last season and were not eliminated from playoff contention until the final week of its debut season. All while Head Coach Christian Lattanzio leading the way for most of the season. In the end Charlotte FC did not have enough firepower last season. The team finished 21st in goals scored. The clubs' opponents attempted more shots than Charlotte FC did last season.
The team has all the makings of a proper possession club, and it will be interesting to see the differences in strengths and weaknesses from this club in year two versus year one.
Rowan County Weather Chief Forecaster Steve Monday will be on hand at the bank this weekend for the match and will provide live updates from the bank on social media. Weather could be a factor with isolated rain chances during the day on Saturday. The rain as of right now looks as if it will be gone around the start of the match. Things could certainly change as we still have several days before the match takes place.
