Rowan County is beautiful and some of our sunsets are the best in the world in my humble opinion! I am going to start sharing some of the photos I get throughout the month from all of you that follow me page here and on social media at Facebook & Twitter
If you are out and about and you see something you want to photograph that is weather related even if its just the sun shining. Take a pic and send it to me. You can send it through social media or here on the website at the Contact Us Page
Now lets take a look at some of my favorite photos from the month of August

This is a sunset photo I took at Rowan County Weather. I love when you get the perfect mix of low level clouds when the sun starts to set. You know it's going to being a nice reddish or orange tint to the sky.

This by far was the most talked about and shared photo I received last month. The rain shaft from this storm setup in this one spot and really shows what I often hear from residents around the county. "My neighbor down the street got rain and I didn't get a drop"

Drones are amazing and can really get some spectacular views of weather.

This is another angle of the rain shaft pictured above. Also taken in China Grove.

This is a drone shot of a rain shaft that passed through the county over on Unity Church Road. This again is another example of how drones can provide some awesome views of the weather.

This is another sunset photo I took from the Rowan County Weather Center. Notice on the bottom left of the picture a little prism appeared in the photo.

Just another sunset photo from the weather center

This is a photo I was sent from the Rockwell area. Notice right above the power lines what could be interpreted as a funnel cloud? This was actually a scud cloud. A scud cloud is a type of fractus cloud at low height above ground, detached, and of irregular form found beneath nimbostratus or cumulonimbus clouds. These clouds are often ragged or wispy in appearance. They look scary but are actually harmless.

This photo was sent to me form Barnhardt Road. Wind damage to a tree from a late storm in August.

Lightning is no easy thing to capture in a photo. So glad these two photo's were sent to me as storms passed through in August.
That's all of the photos I have for August to share. Please take some pictures for me in September. I will share them on social media and who knows they may even make this blog next month! As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
