advertise your local business here »Happy Independence day everyone! I hope that you are going to be safe and responsible while celebrating. Let's talk about what to expect from the weather today and tonight when Fireworks Festivities will be occurring.
The high today will be around 88º here in the county.

The biggest concern with the heat is the dew points that are really high today. 75º which is on the verge of being miserable.
We are at a slight risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening. I would not be surprised if we get a few strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening that contain damaging winds and small hail.

Showers and storms should move out by 8 or 9pm to allow for fireworks shows and festivities to go on as planned.
Accumulations of around an inch or more are possible. The models will elevate the accumulations because of the small hail potential.

Enjoy your Independence Day everyone! As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
