Latest on rain and storm chances for tonight

Wednesday, April 27, 2016 - 4:14pm

As we begin our transition into the late afternoon and early evening hours. Let's take one more look at what to expect tonight for rain and storm chances around the county.

Storms are currently contained in the mountains and foothills of NC. I am expecting those storms to slowly move east/northeast throughout the remainder of the day.

At around 6 pm storms and showers will be just to the east of the mountains and starting to make their way through the foothills

By around 7 pm the extreme northwest area of the county along the I-40 corridor could begin to see some rain starting to move into the area.

As we head to sunset tonight some spotty activity could be around the county in the form of light to moderate showers.

That trend will continue into the late night hours and through the overnight.

We could see a thunderstorm or two out toward the Cleveland and West Rowan areas around 10 pm or a little later tonight as well.

I will continue to monitor the activity and provide updates here on the website as well as on social media.

As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
