Freezing rain to arrive early Sunday

Saturday, February 3, 2018 - 7:27pm

We are a few hours away from our next round of wintry weather entering the county. The good news is this will be a very limited round of wintry weather. The bad news is we will have to deal with a little disruption from it. Let's take a look at what to expect.

Between the hours of 5 and 6am tomorrow morning we will see freezing rain begin to move into western Rowan County. Roads will slowly start to become slick from a light glazing of ice. As we move through the early morning hours things start to get a little worse for more of the county.

By around 8am freezing rain will be affecting areas in the county along I-85 and west. Road conditions will become very slick during this period so if you don't have to go out then please stay off the roads. Things will begin to improve as we move through the morning hours.

By the late morning hours a warm layer of air will move into the lower atmosphere warming us above freezing at ground level. The freezing rain will begin to transition to all rain. Just give yourself a little time from this point and the road conditions will improve. As we move through the afternoon hours you will be able to go about your business around the county and the area. Please continue to check back with Rowan County Weather. I will provide updates right here and on social media throughout the morning hours. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather
