advertise your local business here »Good Tuesday morning. So there's a lot of social media chatter about snow later this week. We will get to that in just a moment. First lets take a look at what to expect today. If you have outdoor plans you will want to wrap them up by around 4pm. That's when I expect the rain to start to move into the county on the western side. The entire county should be getting some rain by 5pm.

We will see the high today top out at around 64º today and that will be the warmest we see it for the foreseeable future.Arctic air moves in behind the front bringing the rain into the county this evening.

The low before midnight will be around 44º and over the course of the next few days that will be close to some of the high temperatures we will see around the county.

As far as total accumulation goes we will see up to around a half of an inch in some areas around the county by the time midnight rolls around.

The rainfall this evening will end a streak of 15 straight days without measurable rainfall officially here in the county. Over the next few days there will be some internet and social media hype about snow. Please don't get overly excited. For a few reasons. One is there is likely going to be mainly rain with a slight chance of a flake or two mixing in over the next few days starting tomorrow evening. Soil temperatures around the county are currently in the upper 40's to low 50's around the county. If it does snow even for a brief period. It will not stick to the roads. It may stick to elevated surfaces and grass but that is still going to be a challenge in itself.
I will of course provide updates right here and on social media throughout the next few days keeping you posted on any changes. For now I would not get overly excited as this will be more hype than anything else form around the internet and social media. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
