Total Solar Eclipse Forecast Update 8/18/17

Friday, August 18, 2017 - 7:49am

The Total Solar Eclipse is now just 3 days away! The Models continue to give us a really good chance for being able to view the Eclipse right here at home! Mostly Sunny skies in the forecast at this point. Cloud cover looks to be pretty thin during the timeframe of the Eclipse. So if you are going to view the Eclipse make sure you have the Eclipse Safety glasses.

The rain chances continue to look non-existent for our area and the county for the Total Solar Eclipse. This continues to be a great sign that we will have good viewing conditions for the duration of the event.

Cloud cover still looks to be very light and favorable for being able to view the Eclipse. Even if its cloud at your home you should be able to drive somewhere in the county and view with Mostly Sunny skies to view under.

The high temperature at the beginning of the Eclipse will be in the low 90's. As we get to the peak of the event where we are the darkest. The temperature will be in the mid to low 70's.

Again please remember if you are planning to actually look directly at the Eclipse. You will need the viewing glasses. If you are just going to be outside going through your normal day to day activities and are not planning to look up. You will not need the glasses. I will continue to provide forecast updates for the Eclipse right here on the website. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
