Looking for a high of 86º around the county today before rain chances pick up.

The Storms Prediction Center has us under a marginal risk for severe weather today. Later this evening models are indicating a possibility of some strong winds moving through the county with storms as what appears to be a bow echo is being forecasted by models around 8pm this evening. This could bring some strong straight line winds to the county. I will keep an eye on the models and radar as we progress through the day and evening to keep you updated.

An area of showers and storms are expected to arrive into the county between 8 & 9pm this evening. The biggest threat with these storms is the possibility of straight line winds. There is also a chance for localized flooding with heavy rainfall.

We could see accumulations anywhere form a tenth of an inch to around a half of an inch depending on where you are around the county as the rain moves through. As always I will keep you updated right here and on social media. Thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
