Monday, July 6, 2026 - 3:40pm

Hot and humid conditions will continue across Davidson County through the remainder of the workweek. Afternoon highs will remain in the lower 90s, while humidity keeps it feeling several degrees warmer during the afternoon hours.

Although each day won't be a washout, scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms remain in the forecast. Tuesday will once again feature the potential for a few strong storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, especially during the late afternoon and evening. Storm coverage decreases somewhat from Wednesday through Friday before increasing again this weekend as another cold front approaches.

Weather Discussion

The weather pattern remains very typical for July across the Carolinas. Warm, moisture-rich air will stay in place while a weak backdoor cold front slowly settles toward central North Carolina Tuesday night into early Wednesday.

Tuesday's combination of daytime heating and abundant moisture will once again support scattered thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening. A few storms could become strong, producing damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, torrential rainfall, and localized flooding in poor drainage areas.

Storm coverage becomes more isolated from Wednesday through Friday as slightly drier air briefly filters into the area. Even so, isolated afternoon thunderstorms will remain possible each day.

Temperatures stay above average through the end of the week, with highs generally in the lower 90s. While this won't be as intense as the recent heat wave, the combination of heat and humidity will still make it feel uncomfortable during the afternoon hours.

Looking ahead to the weekend, a stronger upper-level weather system and an approaching cold front will increase shower and thunderstorm coverage on Saturday. Behind the front, slightly cooler temperatures and lower humidity are expected heading into early next week.

Davidson County Weather Summary

  • Hot and humid conditions continue each afternoon.
  • Daily afternoon and evening thunderstorm chances remain in the forecast.
  • A few storms Tuesday could produce damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, and frequent lightning.
