Davidson County Weather Forecast
Storm Chances Continue Tuesday Before Sunshine Returns Midweek
Good Monday evening, Davidson County!
After an active Monday evening, the cold front responsible for the showers and thunderstorms will slowly move through the region on Tuesday before much drier air arrives for the middle of the week.
While Tuesday won't be a washout, additional showers and thunderstorms remain possible before a beautiful stretch of weather arrives Wednesday.
Tuesday: A Few More Storms Before Conditions Improve
Tuesday will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine with temperatures reaching around 87 degrees during the afternoon.
Showers and thunderstorms remain likely, especially before 4 PM, as the cold front continues moving east through the Carolinas.
Rain chances remain around 60%, and some locations could pick up between a quarter and one-half inch of rainfall where heavier showers develop.
The severe weather threat should be much lower than Monday evening, but any thunderstorm will still be capable of producing lightning and brief heavy rainfall.
Winds will shift to the west and northwest during the day as slightly cooler and drier air begins filtering into the area.
Tuesday Night: Clearing and More Comfortable
Any lingering showers should come to an end Tuesday evening.
Skies will become mostly clear overnight with temperatures dropping to around 62 degrees.
The lower humidity and cooler overnight temperatures will make for one of the more comfortable nights we've experienced in recent weeks.
Wednesday: The Best Day Of The Week
Wednesday looks outstanding across Davidson County.
Sunny skies
High near 87°
Lower humidity
Low near 65°
High pressure building into the region will provide a brief break from both the heat and storm chances.
If you've been waiting for a great day to be outdoors, Wednesday is it.
The Heat Begins Building Again
The quiet weather doesn't last long.
Thursday remains mostly sunny with highs returning to around 91 degrees.
By Friday, temperatures climb back into the middle 90s with isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible.
Weekend Preview
Summer heat makes a strong comeback this weekend.
Friday: 94°
Saturday: 95°
Heat continues building into Sunday and early next week
Forecast guidance continues to indicate a strong ridge developing across the Southeast, which could push temperatures into the upper 90s by late weekend and early next week. Heat index values approaching 100 to 105 degrees may become a concern.
My Take
Tuesday is a transition day with lingering showers and thunderstorms before much drier weather arrives.
Wednesday remains the clear winner of the forecast period with sunshine, lower humidity, and comfortable summer temperatures.
After that, attention turns to the return of summer heat. The forecast is trending warmer for the weekend and early next week, and I expect heat-related concerns to become a bigger part of the forecast by Sunday and Monday.
