Evening Outlook – Wednesday, December 10th

Wednesday, December 10, 2025 - 5:34pm

A cold front continues to move east of the region this evening, with gradually improving conditions across Rowan, Davie, and Davidson Counties. Winds will ease overnight as skies clear from west to east and temperatures fall into the upper 20s. Below is the detailed evening and overnight forecast for each county.

Rowan County

Current Conditions:
Partly cloudy with temperatures in the lower 50s. Southwest winds are still gusting between 20 and 25 mph early this evening but will begin to weaken as the night progresses.

Tonight:
Mostly cloudy skies early will give way to clearing overnight. Low temperatures will fall to around 29 degrees. West winds of 6 to 11 mph will continue through the evening, with gusts up to 23 mph before diminishing after midnight.

Behind the evening frontal passage, colder and drier air filters into the region. Skies clear gradually as high pressure begins building in from the west, setting up a colder-than-normal start to Thursday.

Davie County

Current Conditions:
Partly cloudy with temperatures in the lower to mid 50s. Southwest winds are gusting near 20 mph. Conditions are similar to Rowan County, with gradually lowering winds expected later this evening.

Tonight:
Mostly cloudy early, then becoming clear after midnight. Low temperatures will fall to around 29 degrees. West winds will range from 5 to 9 mph with occasional gusts up to 21 mph before easing overnight.

Davie County will experience a similar clearing trend, with dry air and lighter winds supporting radiational cooling into the upper 20s by Thursday morning.

Davidson County

Current Conditions:
Partly cloudy and in the lower 50s with southwest winds near 12 mph and gusts around 20 mph. The pre-frontal pattern continues to support breezy conditions early this evening before winds weaken late.

Tonight:
Mostly cloudy early, followed by gradual clearing. Low temperatures will fall to around 28 degrees. West winds of 6 to 9 mph will weaken through the night, with gusts up to 18 mph early before diminishing.

Davidson County will remain dry with no precipitation expected. Skies clear overnight as high pressure settles in across the Piedmont, allowing temperatures to fall well below freezing by daybreak.

Summary

All three counties—Rowan, Davie, and Davidson—will experience similar weather conditions tonight: gradually clearing skies, diminishing winds, and overnight lows in the upper 20s. The arrival of colder and drier air behind the departing front will lead to a chilly start to Thursday across the region.
