SPC Outlook: General Thunderstorm Risk Today

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of Rowan County under a General Thunderstorm Risk for today. This is the lowest tier on the SPC scale, but it does indicate the potential for a few thunderstorms as a cold front approaches the region.

What to Expect

• Scattered showers

• Occasional thunder

• Brief heavy downpours

• An isolated stronger storm is possible, but severe weather is not expected

Timing

The best window for thunderstorms will be late this afternoon through the overnight hours, with lingering showers early Wednesday before much colder, drier air arrives.
