Drought Update 12/8/16

The latest drought update has been issued. No changes for the county. The areas of the state that needed some help were areas in western NC and those areas certainly got it As you cna see from the picture below areas in western NC have been upgraded to moderate drought. Severe Drought conditions which covered 18% of the state last week have now been reduced to only 13% of the state. Extreme drought has been reduced from 13% of the state last week down to 4% this week. The areas that were in an exception drought have been reduced to Extreme. Currently no part of the state remains in the worst category of Excveptional Drought.
