Mosquito Activity

Cooler air continues to limit mosquito activity across Rowan County, with only isolated areas seeing minor evening activity through Saturday. The final wave of colder temperatures arriving Sunday night into Monday will effectively bring the mosquito season to an end.

Conditions and Outlook

Afternoon highs in the upper 60s to low 70s through the weekend will keep a few mosquitoes active in sheltered areas or near standing water. Once the strong cold front moves through late Sunday, temperatures will drop sharply — overnight lows in the 20s by Monday night will end any remaining mosquito breeding.

This will be one of the final mosquito forecasts of the year. The series will wrap up on Monday, returning next spring when conditions once again support mosquito activity.
