The stretch of sunny, 70-degree weather will hold through the end of the workweek, but a pair of cold fronts will bring a noticeable change by the second half of the weekend.
A breezy, warm setup through Friday
Southwest winds and plenty of sunshine will keep temperatures several degrees above normal through Friday. Highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s are expected, with mostly clear skies and dry conditions continuing.
Friday night’s weak front
The first front arrives late Friday night into early Saturday. This system could bring a few light showers or a rumble of thunder before moving out quickly. Most of Saturday looks partly to mostly sunny, with highs still reaching the lower 70s.
A stronger front to end the weekend
The bigger change comes Sunday as a stronger cold front sweeps through the Carolinas. Behind it, much colder and drier air moves in, sending overnight lows into the 30s by Sunday night. Temperatures for Monday and Tuesday will struggle to climb out of the 40s for highs, and the first widespread freeze of the season is likely Monday night.
A true November feel ahead
After a stretch of late-October warmth, this next pattern marks the transition to a more seasonable November setup. Jackets will soon give way to heavier coats, and many residents will be turning on the heat for the first time this season.
