High Pressure Returns: What to Expect from Rowan County’s Midweek Warm-Up

Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 7:20am

After a cold, frosty start to Sunday morning, clouds will gradually increase ahead of a weak upper-level low moving across the Southeast later today and tonight. That system will bring a small chance of light rain to Rowan County before high pressure takes control to start the new week. The result — a brighter, milder stretch of classic November weather just as the holiday season begins to take shape.

A Quick Round of Rain First

Clouds will thicken through the afternoon as the upper low approaches. Most areas will stay dry during the day, but scattered light showers are possible after sunset, especially east of I-85. Rainfall amounts should stay on the lighter side — generally a tenth to a quarter inch — before the system moves out overnight.

Sunshine and Warming Ahead

By Monday, the upper low shifts off the Carolina coast and high pressure begins to build in from the west. Skies will clear quickly, and temperatures will begin a steady climb through midweek. Highs near 64° Monday will reach the upper 60s Tuesday and may touch 70° by Wednesday and Thursday.

Morning lows will still dip into the upper 30s and low 40s, but the chill will fade quickly after sunrise each day under bright sunshine and calm winds.

A Season of Change

This week’s stretch of sunshine and mild afternoons arrives at the perfect time — just as Rowan County shifts from pumpkin patches to parades and from fall leaves to the first twinkle of holiday lights.

Downtown storefronts are beginning to take on their festive look, coffee shops are swapping pumpkin flavors for peppermint, and many folks are starting to plan Thanksgiving gatherings. The weather will cooperate beautifully, offering dry conditions and comfortable afternoons for early decorating, shopping, and outdoor events.

Looking Ahead

High pressure remains the dominant feature through at least Friday, keeping the region dry and pleasant. Another weak cold front may brush the mountains late in the week, but it’s not expected to bring much more than a few extra clouds.

It’s a week that captures the spirit of the season — calm, crisp, and quietly shifting toward the holidays. Enjoy it while it lasts before the next round of active weather later in November.
