Mosquito Forecast

Friday, October 31, 2025 - 8:03am

Cooler nights and lower humidity have finally started to bring some relief from mosquitoes across Rowan County.

Current Conditions:
Mosquito activity is low to moderate through the weekend as overnight lows fall into the 30s and 40s. The chillier mornings and drier air limit breeding and flight activity, especially in shaded or grassy areas.

Looking Ahead:
A brief warm-up early next week may allow light mosquito activity to return during the afternoons, but no major uptick is expected as long as overnight temperatures continue to dip near or below 40 degrees.

Prevention Tips:

  • Empty standing water from buckets, birdbaths, and planters.

  • Check gutters and drains for clogs that trap moisture.

  • Keep window screens sealed to reduce indoor mosquitoes.

With frost expected again tonight, this may mark one of the final mosquito updates of the season.
