Although winds will be lighter than previous days, very dry air will return on Friday. Minimum relative humidity levels are expected to drop to between 20 and 30 percent, and with dry vegetation and fuels still in place, the risk for rapid fire spread will remain elevated through the afternoon and early evening.
What to Expect:
-
Relative humidity between 20–30%
-
Light winds but very dry air
-
Dry ground and fuels increasing fire risk
What You Should Do:
Please check with your local burn permitting authorities before burning. If burning is allowed, use extreme caution, as fires can still spread quickly under these conditions. Avoid outdoor burning whenever possible.
Dry and sunny weather will continue through Friday, with conditions remaining unfavorable for any type of open burning.
Rowan County Weather will continue to monitor fire danger conditions and provide updates if the situation changes.
