Mosquito Forecast:

Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 8:57am

Cooler nighttime temperatures and lower humidity are helping reduce mosquito activity across Rowan County. While the population is declining, some mosquitoes may still be present during the early evening hours, especially near standing water sources such as puddles, gutters, and planters.

Activity Level:

  • Low to moderate for the remainder of the week

  • Highest risk periods occur near dusk in damp or shaded areas

Tips for Prevention:

  • Remove or empty standing water in containers, bird baths, and gutters

  • Trim back overgrown vegetation where mosquitoes may rest

  • Apply EPA-approved insect repellents when spending time outdoors in the evening

As fall continues to cool the air, mosquito activity will steadily taper off, bringing a much more comfortable end to the outdoor season.
