Landis Police Vehicle Pursuit – Official Update

Landis, N.C. — The Landis Police Department reports that on Friday, October 17, 2025, around 11:30 p.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on South Chapel Street near East Ryder Avenue for careless and reckless driving and speeding.

The driver failed to stop, leading officers on a pursuit. The suspect vehicle crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of East 30th Street and South Chapel Street. After the crash, suspects fired shots at officers before fleeing the scene on foot.

No officers were injured. Police say this was an isolated incident, and there is no further threat to the public at this time.
