As of 5 AM AST Monday, Lorenzo is producing maximum sustained winds of 40 mph while moving toward the northwest at 15 mph.
The storm developed overnight from a previously disorganized area of low pressure and now shows a more defined structure with strong convection and tropical-storm-force winds confirmed by satellite data.
Forecast Outlook:
Lorenzo is expected to move northwest today, then turn north and eventually northeast later this week as it interacts with an upper-level trough. While the environment could briefly become more favorable, some dry air and wind shear may limit significant strengthening.
There is no threat to land at this time.
