
Tropical Update from the National Hurricane Center
For the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico
A tropical wave, designated AL97, is located well southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and continues to produce a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
Environmental conditions appear conducive for some development during the next few days, and a tropical depression could form early or midweek as the system moves west-northwest to northwest at 15 to 20 mph across the central tropical Atlantic.
Formation chances:
• Through 48 hours: 40 percent (medium)
• Through 7 days: 50 percent (medium)
There are no immediate threats to the U.S. or Caribbean at this time, but Rowan County Weather will continue to monitor updates from the National Hurricane Center.
