Rain and high humidity are creating favorable conditions for mosquitoes. Standing water will refill quickly after showers, providing breeding grounds. Expect moderate to high mosquito activity this evening and overnight, especially near wooded and low-lying areas.
Sunday:
Partly sunny breaks will warm temperatures into the upper 70s. Activity will remain moderate, with mosquitoes most noticeable around dusk.
Early Next Week (Mon–Tue):
With more widespread rain expected from a tropical system, mosquito activity will remain elevated. Saturated soils and puddling will increase breeding potential across the county.
Tips to Reduce Activity:
-
Drain standing water around yards and gutters.
-
Use repellents containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus if outdoors in the evening.
-
Wear long sleeves and pants in areas with heavy activity.
Steve Monday on mosquito conditions:
“The combination of warm temps and steady rainfall means mosquitoes will be a bigger nuisance the next few days. Taking small steps now to reduce standing water can make a big difference in activity around your home.”
