
Tropical Weather Update – National Hurricane Center (2 AM Fri, Sep 26)
Active Systems:
Post-Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle – over the Azores.
Hurricane Humberto – strengthening in the central Atlantic, now with maximum sustained winds near 75 mph. Humberto is expected to become a major hurricane this weekend.
Southwestern Atlantic (AL94):
A tropical wave near Hispaniola and the Turks & Caicos Islands is expected to develop into a tropical depression today or this weekend as it tracks toward the Bahamas.
Heavy rain and gusty winds are already impacting the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Turks & Caicos.
Impacts are likely to spread into the Bahamas and eastern Cuba over the next couple of days.
Looking ahead, chances are increasing for wind, rainfall, and storm surge impacts along portions of the Southeast U.S. coast early next week, but both the track and intensity remain uncertain.
