Strong Thunderstorms Impacting Parts of Rowan, Cabarrus, and Iredell Counties This Evening

The National Weather Service is tracking a line of strong thunderstorms moving through portions of northwestern Cabarrus, southeastern Iredell, and southwestern Rowan Counties this evening.

Storm Details

As of 5:44 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated storms along a line extending from 8 miles northwest of Kannapolis to 9 miles north of Huntersville. The storms are moving east at 15 mph.

  • Hazards: Wind gusts up to 50 mph and hail up to half an inch in diameter.

  • Source: Radar indicated.

  • Impact: Gusty winds may knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage is possible.

  • Kannapolis

  • China Grove

  • Landis

  • Faith

Additional Concerns

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms and could lead to localized flooding. Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
