Warming Trend Returns: Rowan County Temps Climb Toward 90° This Weekend

Wednesday, September 3, 2025 - 8:08am

After several days of below-normal temperatures, Rowan County is about to feel more like late summer again. High pressure sliding offshore today will set the stage for a noticeable warm-up by the end of the week.

Today and Thursday

Wednesday will stay comfortable, with highs around 80 under partly sunny skies. Patchy morning fog gave way to mild afternoon conditions. Tonight, lows will dip into the upper 50s, and Thursday will bring plenty of sunshine with highs climbing into the mid-80s. A weak cold front will brush the region, sparking a few mountain and foothill showers or storms, but most of Rowan County will remain dry.

Friday and Saturday Heat

The warm-up really takes hold Friday into Saturday. Highs will jump into the upper 80s to near 90, marking the first time in over a week that temperatures have reached that level. Sunshine and southwest breezes will make for classic late-summer afternoons, and overnight lows will hold in the mid to upper 60s.

Weekend Outlook

By Sunday, another cold front will push toward the Carolinas, bringing cooler conditions back to start next week. Rain chances may return depending on whether the front clears the region or stalls nearby. Highs Sunday will ease back to the lower 80s, with lows Sunday night dropping into the upper 50s.

Summary

Expect a return to summerlike heat for the end of the week, with highs approaching 90 Friday and Saturday before cooler, unsettled weather arrives late in the weekend.
