The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement as a strong thunderstorm moves northeast through southeastern Iredell County and into west-central Rowan County, including parts of the Lake Norman region and communities near Cleveland and Mount Ulla.
Storm Details:
At 5:49 PM, Doppler radar indicated a strong storm 11 miles south of Statesville, near Mooresville, tracking northeast at 20 mph. This storm is capable of producing:

Wind gusts up to 40 mph

Hail up to half an inch in diameter

Gusty winds may knock down small tree limbs and blow around unsecured outdoor items.

Minor hail damage to plants, vehicles, and other exposed objects is possible.

Heavy rainfall is occurring with this storm and could lead to localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
