A strong thunderstorm is currently affecting parts of southwestern Rowan County and east-central Iredell County, including the communities of Landis, Enochville, and Kannapolis. The storm was first tracked by Doppler radar around 6:36 PM, moving north at approximately 10 mph.

Storm Details

  • Location at 6:36 PM: 4 miles north of Kannapolis, centered over Landis

  • Movement: North at 10 mph

  • Threats:

    • Wind gusts up to 40 mph

    • Half inch hail

    • Torrential downpours with potential for minor flooding

Radar indicates strong thunderstorm activity capable of producing minor hail damage and localized wind impacts. These winds could down small tree limbs or toss around unsecured outdoor items such as lawn chairs or umbrellas.
