A strong thunderstorm is currently tracking across parts of eastern Iredell, southwestern Davie, and now approaching northwestern Rowan County, with impacts expected through 4:45 PM Thursday.

Storm Details:

  • Time Issued: 4:13 PM EDT

  • Location: 8 miles northeast of Statesville, or 8 miles south of Harmony

  • Movement: Southeast at 15 mph

Hazards:

  • Wind gusts up to 40 mph

  • Pea-size hail possible

  • Torrential rain may lead to localized flooding

Radar Indications:
The storm has been radar-indicated to contain gusty winds capable of knocking down small limbs and blowing around unsecured outdoor items. Minor hail damage to outdoor furniture, plants, or vehicle exteriors is also possible.

Areas That May Be Impacted:

  • Statesville

  • Cool Springs

  • Turnersburg

  • Cleveland (northwestern Rowan County)

Rainfall Threat:
Heavy downpours are accompanying this storm and could quickly overwhelm drainage in low-lying areas, especially if the storm slows or trains over the same location. Flooding on secondary roads and near creeks or ditches is possible.
