Tropical Depression Three strengthened into Tropical Storm Chantal early Saturday morning off the South Carolina coast. While the system will bring tropical storm conditions and flash flooding threats to coastal areas of the Carolinas, Rowan County remains on the western edge of the system and is not expected to experience direct impacts.

As of 8:00 AM EDT, Tropical Storm Chantal was located about 100 miles southeast of Charleston, South Carolina. The National Hurricane Center reports:

Tropical storm warnings are in effect along parts of the South Carolina and southern North Carolina coasts.
Local Impacts for Rowan County
No tropical storm conditions are expected in Rowan County. However, moisture from the system will spread westward, bringing a chance of rain and a few thunderstorms Sunday and Monday.
