Strong Thunderstorm Impacting Southeastern Rowan County Thursday Evening

A strong thunderstorm is currently impacting southeastern Rowan County this Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg.

As of 7:40 PM, Doppler radar indicated the storm was located about 6 miles northwest of Badin Lake and was nearly stationary.

Storm Details:

  • Hazards: Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea-size hail

  • Source: Radar indicated

  • Impact: Gusty winds may knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured outdoor objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor surfaces like vehicles and plants is also possible.

The storm is primarily affecting rural portions of southeastern Rowan County, but those nearby should continue to monitor for any changes in its intensity or motion.
