At 5:25 PM, Doppler radar indicated a storm located about 13 miles northwest of Huntersville, near Lake Norman, moving east at 30 mph. This storm is producing wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail.

Areas Likely to Be Affected:

  • Mooresville and the Lake Norman shoreline

  • Lincolnton, Maiden, and Boger City

  • Westport, High Shoals, and areas just west of Kannapolis and Mount Ulla

Hazards:

  • Wind gusts up to 40 mph – enough to knock down small limbs and unsecured items

  • Pea-sized hail – may cause minor damage to cars, rooftops, and outdoor equipment

  • Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning – which can strike up to 10 miles from the storm

What You Should Do:

  • Seek shelter indoors immediately if you are in the path of the storm

  • Avoid open areas, water, and tall structures
