A strong thunderstorm is moving across southeastern Rowan County and will impact parts of northeastern Cabarrus County and the High Rock Lake area through 5:30 PM EDT.
At 4:56 PM, Doppler radar indicated a storm approximately 12 miles east of Kannapolis, or about 4 miles south of Rockwell, tracking northeast at 15 mph. While not currently severe, the storm is producing wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail.

Hazards:

Wind gusts up to 40 mph – may down small limbs and blow around lightweight objects

Pea-sized hail – could cause minor damage to vehicles or outdoor furniture

Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning – lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from the storm
