Strong Thunderstorm Impacting Southeastern Rowan & Northeastern Cabarrus Counties Early Saturday

A strong thunderstorm is currently moving through northeastern Cabarrus and southeastern Rowan County, and will continue to impact the area through 7:45 AM. The storm was located about 9 miles east of Downtown Concord, near Mt. Pleasant, and is tracking east at 40 mph.

Hazards:

• Wind gusts up to 40 mph

• Pea-sized hail (up to 0.25 inches)

Radar has indicated this storm could bring minor hail damage to vehicles and outdoor items, along with gusty winds capable of knocking down small limbs or blowing around unsecured objects.

 Areas Likely Affected:

• Gold Hill

• Rockwell

• High Rock

• Mt. Pleasant

• High Rock Lake

Residents in these areas should use caution, especially if outdoors. If you're in the path of this storm, it’s advised to seek shelter indoors until the threat passes.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for the Piedmont of North Carolina through 12:00 PM today. While this storm is currently below severe limits, conditions remain favorable for storms to intensify later this morning.
