Strong Thunderstorm Moving into Western Rowan County

A strong thunderstorm is tracking across western Rowan County this evening and is expected to impact the area through 6:00 PM.

As of 5:09 PM, Doppler radar indicated the storm was located approximately 7 miles west of Salisbury, near the area north of China Grove. It is moving northeast at 25 mph.

Hazards:

  • Wind gusts up to 50 mph

  • Nickel-size hail

Potential Impacts:

  • Gusty winds may knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured outdoor items.

  • Minor hail damage to vehicles, plants, and other outdoor objects is possible.

  • Salisbury

  • Enochville

  • China Grove

  • Piedmont Research Station

  • Faith

  • Spencer

  • Granite Quarry

  • Landis

  • Woodleaf

  • Rockwell
