Senior Stars: How Rowan County Athletes Are Finishing Strong

As spring sports take center stage across Rowan County, senior athletes are stepping up and leaving their mark in a big way. Whether they’re dominating on the diamond, leading their teams in the field, or earning statewide honors, these seniors are closing out their high school careers with heart, hustle, and highlight-worthy performances.

Here’s a look at confirmed standout senior athletes from around the county so far:


Carson High School – Baseball

Corbin Hales
A go-to presence in the lineup and on the mound, Hales has helped drive the Cougars’ spring success with a steady bat and command from the bump.

TJ Harris
Known for his reliable glove and competitive energy, Harris has been a core leader on the infield and helped spark big plays throughout the season.

Jayven Parks
Parks brings athleticism and versatility, contributing in key roles across the lineup while maintaining a consistent presence on both sides of the ball.

Bryson Shoemaker
Shoemaker rounds out Carson’s senior class with veteran savvy and steady play that’s helped guide a well-balanced team.


South Rowan High School – Softball

Kynlee Dextraze (Shortstop)
A defensive anchor and power hitter, Dextraze has committed to Lenoir-Rhyne University and continues to lead with both glove and bat.

Lexie Ritchie (Second Base)
Committed to Chowan University, Ritchie plays with poise and purpose—making key plays in the infield and delivering clutch hits.

Carmen Thomas (Left Field)
A speed threat and high-energy outfielder, Thomas brings hustle to every play and sets the tone for the Raiders in big games.


North Rowan High School

Emari Russell
One of the county’s top multi-sport athletes, Russell has accepted an invitation to compete in the East-West All-Star Game this summer—a major honor and testament to her impact on and off the field.
