Ailshie went 6.1 innings, allowing just five hits and no earned runs while striking out six and walking three. He worked through traffic early but stayed composed, using a balanced mix of fastballs and off-speed pitches to keep South Rowan hitters off balance.
South Rowan threatened in the top of the seventh, forcing Ailshie out of the game with runners aboard. Senior Mason Phelps came in from the bullpen and shut the door, striking out two to earn the save.
Phelps also had a perfect night at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Ailshie, Ketchie, Goodman, and Bradley each drove in a run as the Mustangs used timely hitting to take an early lead and never looked back.
The win improves East Rowan's record and adds momentum heading into Thursday's Senior Night doubleheader against Lake Norman Charter.
With performances like this, Ailshie is proving to be one of the most reliable arms in the SPC and a key piece of East Rowan’s postseason hopes.
